Doing our part – connecting the youth
At RSAWEB, we are passionate about investing in our children’s futures and believe that the positive changes we want to bring about need to start in their classrooms – which is why we have been connecting schools to the Internet for free since 2015. This is just one of the fulfilling ways that we as a company are connecting tomorrow. We believe that every child has the right to Internet access, and we are working together with some of our Fibre providers to make this a reality. We started by providing free ADSL connectivity to two disadvantaged schools in 2015 – Good Hope Junior School and Laerskool De Vrije Zee. This opened several new opportunities for other schools and included us offering them computer classes, which in turn provided their students with the means to use the Internet for research purposes and to complete homework assignments. In addition to empowering the students, we also enabled the teaching staff to work more efficiently and implement new online systems. Some of our Fibre providers like Frogfoot, Octotel and Vumatel share our vision of connecting our nation’s children and investing in their educations. By partnering with them, we have turned this vision into a reality. We provide a staggering R270,000.00 worth of free connectivity to schools each year, and the partnerships we have forged with our Fibre providers allows us to provide more schools with the free infrastructure they need to connect to the Internet in a fast and reliable way. It’s through these partnerships that we hope to provide Internet connectivity to every school in the areas where we have access to Fibre infrastructure. Some of the schools we provide free connectivity to include:
- Labiance Primary School
- Somerset West Primary School
- Muizenberg Junior School
- Gordon’s Bay Primary School
- Mountain Road Primary School
- Golden Grove Primary School
Each school receives a 1GB line with uncapped data monthly. Should a school feel that they need more, a unique package can be put together to suit their needs. If you want to get your school connected, contact our school liaison directly at [email protected]
