Being a graphic designer at RSAWEB
At RSAWEB we celebrate creativity and understand the value it adds to our lives. This week we spoke to Kayla Sinden, one of our incredibly talented graphic designers, who does so much more than just make things look pretty.
How long have you been a graphic designer?
I have been a graphic designer for 5 years now.
In layman’s terms, what is it that you do?
I make things look pretty! I put together marketing material and designs for RSAWEB which can vary between flyers or designing web pages.
What does your average day entail?
That is the cool thing about being a designer. Every day is different! So it really depends on the day or the project that comes along.
What is it like working at RSAWEB?
It is awesome! RSAWEB is a cool company. We have some fantastic work perks which include free coffees and beer o’clock on Fridays. The office is great for a designer because of how modern and stylish it is. The office is open plan so it is very friendly and every department intertwines.
What is your favorite part of your job?
2 things. First up is learning so much because we are in the tech industry which is constantly changing. I feel like I’m learning so much more here than I would if I was at an agency. The 2nd is being able to go ahead with projects and have autonomy with regard to my work.
What is the most stressful aspect of your job?
DEADLINES.
Most memorable moment?
Definitely the first time I saw something I worked on blown up on a billboard.
What advice would you give to a graphic designer on day one?
Don’t stress, you will get there. You can’t learn everything in 1 day, embrace the experience so that you can take it all in and learn as much as possible.
